Edward Jay VanDerPloeg, 67, longtime resident of Naples, FL, born in Chicago, IL, passed away suddenly on July 22, 2025. Beloved husband of Donna for 43 years; dear son of Lucille and the late John VanDerPloeg; loving father of Michelle (Marc) Maxant; devoted papa of Emma and Katie Maxant; fond brother of Roger (Kim) VanDerPloeg and the late Kenneth (Judy) VanDerPloeg; uncle of many nieces and nephews.

Ed touched the lives of many with his profound sense of humor and warmth. Ed was a man of Christian faith, a loyal friend and possessed an ability to connect with just about anyone. He possessed a brilliant mind, disarming wit and charming smile.

Ed was the owner of Safety First Co. and worked side by side with his wife, Donna, for 34 years. Under his leadership, Safety First Co. became a respected name in the industry. Ed's dedication to his business and his employees was evident in everything he did. He was a mentor to many and a true leader.

Private funeral services are under the direction of Fuller Funeral Home in Naples, FL. Ed's final resting place will be Forest Home Cemetery in Forest Park, IL.
