Edward Joseph Weng, age 90, passed away peacefully at home on January 29, 2026.
Born in Chicago, Illinois, he is preceded in death by his parents, Joseph and Marie Weng and brother, Robert Weng.
Ed is survived by his wife of 45 years, Mary Lou Weng; stepsons, Britt Rothove, Matt Rothove; stepdaughter, Susan Neal and husband, Milton; grandson, Jason Neal and wife, Valentina; granddaughter, Rachael Ingold and husband, Jason; great-grandsons, Brody, Colton, and Archer Ingold; sons, Russell Weng and wife, Linda, Scott Weng and wife, Lisa; grandsons, Ty Weng, Linden Weng and wife, Jacie; great-granddaughter, Tamzen and great-grandsons, Kiliaen Weng, Michael Weng; sister-in-law, Dolores Weng; nieces and nephews, Larry and Val Weng, Christopher and Connie Weng, Dolores and Steve Plontke; brother-in-law, Bill Morie and wife, Andrea; sister-in-law, Diane and husband, Warren Brandt.
Ed served in the U.S. Army in the late 1950's. He retired from the Georgia Department of Revenue in 2002 and moved to the Bent Tree Community where he became active, serving as a member of the Bent Tree Board of Directors, Co-Chair of the Lake & Wildlife Committee and member of the Bent Tree Stable Committee among other volunteer activities. For several years Ed was a private consultant to people with problems with State taxes. He loved dancing of all types and was an avid square dancer for many years.
Funeral services will be held 2:00 p.m., Monday, February 16, 2026 in the Chapel of Roper Funeral Home. The family will be receiving friends prior to the service from 12:30 until 2:00 p.m.
Interment will be the following day, February 17, 2026, at 11:30 a.m. at Georgia National Cemetery at 1080 Veterans Cemetery Road; Canton, GA 30114.
In lieu of flowers, donations can be made to Georgia Mountains Hospice in Jasper, GA.
Arrangements are entrusted to the Staff of Roper Funeral Home and Crematory.
