Edward Ray Whitaker Sr., 87, of Clinton, IN passed away on Thursday February 16, 2023.
He was born in Louisville, KY on July 16, 1935, to James W. Whitaker Sr. and May Vincy Russell Whitaker.
He was preceded in death by his parents, brothers and sisters, and his wife Laurel Secuskie Whitaker.
Edward is survived by his sons Edward Whitaker Jr (Cathy) of Clinton, Dave Whitaker (Leslie) of Terre Haute, Tom Whitaker (Darcy) of Oregon and his daughter Beth Karanovich (Rob) of Saint Bernice; grandchildren Zac Karanovich, Veronica Moturi, Jacob Jackson, Kaleb Whitaker, Kaylyn Whitaker, Taylor Whitaker, Noah Whitaker, Jordan Whitaker and Madi Whitaker; and his great grandchildren Myllee and Maddox Moturi, Ruth and Miriam Karanovich, Layla Jackson and Lennon and Marcy Whitaker; three sisters-in-law and several nieces and nephews.
Edward served in the United States Navy, traveled the World, and represented his country proudly as well as being a champion as a Naval Fleet Boxer. He was also a Golden Gloves Champion during his amateur career.
Edward started his next career as the first apprentice in the Boilermakers Local 374, retiring in 1995.
He served proudly as a member with the American Legion post 108.
Edward left an everlasting impression on each and every one as a Husband, Dad and PaPa.
Visitation will be at Frist Funeral Home on Thursday February 23, 2023 from 4:00 – 8:00 P.M. Service will be at Sacred Heart Church on Friday February 24, 2023 at 11:00 A.M. with Father Joby Puthussery officiating. Burial will follow at Walnut Grove Cemetery.
