Edward Charles Williams, age 73, of Mechanicsburg died at home on Wednesday, August 14, 2024. Edward was born on Saturday, September 11, 1950, in Baltimore to the late Frederick Williams and Esther (Mader) Williams. In addition to his parents, Edward is preceded in death by his brother, John Williams; and his son, Edward Williams, Jr.
Edward’s survivors include his wife of 53 years, Barbara “Barb” Jean (Shearer) Williams; his three children: Joseph “Joe” Williams of Mechanicsburg, Andrew Williams and his wife, Amy of Berwick, and Nicole Williams of Coatesville; his nine grandchildren: Alyssa Bullock, Melvin Davis, Marvin, Davis, Ella Williams, Hayden Williams, Edward Williams III, Skylar Williams, Joe Williams, and Hayden Williams; his three great-grandchildren: Carter Davis, Maverick Davis, Kayliana Davis; his three siblings: Frederick “Fred” Williams of Georgia, Michael “Mike” Williams of Middletown, and Carolyn Swanson; and his beloved yellow lab, Maxwell.
Edward graduated from Central Dauphin High School. He retired from PennDOT, after many years of service working as a sign maker. Edward was devoted to his family and loved spending time with them, especially his grandchildren. An avid sports afficionado, he loved to watch the Dallas Cowboys, the New York Yankees, and professional wrestling. He strived to teach his passion for competition to his children by coaching their sports teams. Although very physically active, Edward enjoyed sitting back and playing games on his computer. Edward was a very direct when talking to others, but he loved everybody and he would go out of his way for any of them. Edward was a kind hearted man and always wanted to make others happy. He was known to have a great sense of humor and was always telling jokes. Edward will be dearly missed by all those fortunate to have been in his life.
Edward’s family will be remembering his life privately. Interment in Rolling Green Cemetery in Camp Hill will be at the family’s convenience.
