Fima was born on July 10, 1926, in Russia. He survived many hardships during the wars in his country. Fima was a very cultured person in art and music. He especially appreciated jazz and could name any famous painting with the artist and its history. He held three master's degrees: physical education, exercise science, and physical therapy. He was a Master of Sport in fencing, a European bon vivant, and a tango aficionado, dancing in Buenos Aires. He was an Olympic trainer in the sport of fencing and a model in Italy. Fima started one of the first personal training gyms in Chicago. He trained famous clients, including Lily Tomlin. Fima was 4 times nominated "Best Trainer" and featured on ABC, CBS, NBC, Fox, Chicago Tribune, Windy City Sports, and the Strength & Conditioning Association Journal. At 99 years old, Fima was still an active athletic trainer and bodybuilder who drove daily to work at his private gym.
We will remember Fima for his wit, colorful language, straightforwardness, kindness, and generosity to all people. He knew how to brighten someone's day. Fima learned to say hello, goodbye, and thank you in many languages to help start conversations and make people feel comfortable. Fima was a writer and was working on his doctorate when he was forced to leave Russia years ago. He was working on his book just before he passed away, Help Your Soul to Defeat Your Stomach. His unedited work in progress was recently posted for sale on Amazon. His book looks at both the scientific and practical applications of diet, exercise, and enjoyable living.
Fima is survived by his brother, Leo Feigin, daughter, Kristina Feigin, longtime girlfriend, Joyce Muni, the Hirose family, and Pamela Ferre.
A small memorial service was held at Highland Park Hospital on July 30, 2025. Fima's akitas were his favorite breed of dogs. Donations may be made to Orphans of the Storm Animal Shelter, https://orphansofthestorm.org/

I WORKED OUT IN THE LITTLE GYM IN THE WAREHOUSE DISTRICT IN THE LATE 80s. & TRAINED WITH FIMA-WHO WAS THE FIRST & ONLY ONE IN A LONG LINE OF " BODYWORKERS" THAT HELPED ME RELEASE A KNOT OF MUSCLES WHICH HAD BEEN PERMANENTLY IN SPASM DUE TO THORACIC SCOLIOSIS. ... was thinking about him recently... remembeting the fab, rich, pithy , robin discussions n conversations we had whilst everyone was stretching and getting resdy to be put thru tge paces. These days I´m a cabaret singer & a dancer in California ( at 72!) And STILL use some of the techniques FIMA taught me to keep both body AND mind flexible & limber.
