Eileen Mulcahy Donovan, 93, of Cheshire, CT, and formerly of
Wallingford, CT and Norwich, CT, passed away peacefully on July 10, 2025. Born the ninth of eleven children on October 23, 1931, during the Great Depression, she was the daughter of the late William Louis and Mary Agnes Elizabeth (Bowen) Mulcahy.
She was predeceased by her high school sweetheart and husband of 60 years, Dennis Carroll Donovan. They were married at the Cathedral of St. Patrick in Norwich, CT on August 29, 1953 by the Reverend James Mulcahy. She was predeceased by her sisters, Annamae Enos, Marguerite Leary, Mary Pritchard, Mildred Biondolillo, Dorothy Mulcahy, and her brothers, Joseph Mulcahy, William Mulcahy, and James Mulcahy. She is survived by two sisters, Kathleen Kingsley of Norwich, CT and Carolyn Besade of Oakdale, CT and her sisters-in-law, Evon Mulcahy of Norwich, CT and Viola Mulcahy of Uncasville, CT.
She is survived by her daughter Denise (Stephen) Carabetta of Southington, CT, son Kevin Donovan (Elizabeth) of Peachtree City, GA, son Dennis Donovan (Deborah) of Walnut Creek, CA, granddaughters Eileen Carabetta Bielewicz (Michael) of Plantsville, CT and Lauren Carabetta Balsome (Donald) of Southington, CT, grandsons Brian Donovan of New York, New York, Christopher Donovan (Mari Sandoval) of Tampa, FL, Matthew Donovan of Peachtree City, GA, Thomas Donovan of Walnut Creek, CA, William Donovan of Walnut Creek, CA, and great-grandson Ethan Carabetta Bielewicz of Plantsville, CT.
Eileen attended St. Patrick grammar school and graduated from Norwich Free Academy. She resided in Norwich, Ledyard, and Wallingford with her husband, Dennis, and raised three children. Eileen was employed by the Kovacs Insurance Agency as the office manager and an insurance agent for 30 years. She served as treasurer of the American Legion Auxiliary, Unit 73. Eileen was a communicant of the Church of the Resurrection,
Wallingford, CT for over 50 years.
Eileen's family will receive relatives and friends on Tuesday JULY 22nd, from 9:30am - 10:30am at the Wallingford Funeral Home, 809 N. Main St. Ext, Wallingford. Her funeral procession will then leave the funeral home at 10:30 for a Mass of Christian Burial in the Church of the Resurrection, 115 Pond Hill Rd., Wallingford at 11am. Interment will be private in the family plot in St. Joseph's Cemetery, Norwich.
