Eileen Mae Downing, affectionately known as Sunshine, Babe, Mommy, and Trouble, passed away on September 21, 2025. Born on August 27, 1944, in Minerva, OH, she was a beacon of compassion, dedication, and resilience. Eileen had a spirited soul that radiated love and light to all who were blessed to know her. She was a devoted mother, a loving grandmother, and a cherished friend. Eileen was an exemplar of Christian faith and values, consistently demonstrating love, compassion, and kindness. She was fondly known for her melodious voice which filled the choir at her local church.
Eileen spent her professional career as a nursing assistant in the health care sector, showcasing her inherent nurturing nature. Her dedication to her job mirrored her personal life, as she constantly sought to bring joy and comfort to others. Eileen believed in the power of love and was always willing to lend a helping hand, even to complete strangers. This inclination to help others was a testament to her resilient spirit. Life was not always easy for Eileen, but she faced each challenge head-on with unwavering determination and a smile on her face.
In her spare time, Eileen found solace in fishing, coloring, painting, and enjoying music – but the hobby she cherished most was spending time with her family. She loved each of her children, grandchildren, and great-grandchildren deeply and expressed it in every possible way. Eileen's presence was a gift, her laughter infectious, and her love, boundless.
Eileen is survived by her children, Cathy Nicholson, George Downing, and Charles Buzzard; her siblings, Flora Miller, Patricia Smith, and Gary Wolford; her grandchildren, Morgan Barrino, Zakai Nicholson, Matthew Cooper, and Amber Downing; her great-grandchildren, Marceline Barrino, Charlie Cooper, Eliza Cooper, Roseanne Cooper, and Little Cooper; and her son-in-law, Roy Jr. She was preceded in death by her parents, Lucy and Luther Wolford, and her Daughter-in-law, Martha Downing.
