Eileen Maloney Gianguzi, of La Quinta CA, passed away July 20, 2025 at the age of 73, after a three and a half year battle with cancer. She was born May 12, 1952 in Easton PA to John "Jack" and Grace Maloney. She graduated from Easton High School in 1970 and Temple University in 1973 with a degree in dental hygiene. She married the love of her life Charlie Gianguzi in 1974. She spent her career as a dental hygienist in Pennsylvania and California. She earned a BS in Health Administration from UCLA in 1984.
She enjoyed writing, reading, photography, trips to Big Bear and Las Vegas, and nurturing her many cacti, when not working. After her retirement in 2016 she discovered a love of and talent for drawing, showing her art in local art shows and sharing her drawings with family and friends. She also illustrated Grounded, a book of poetry written by a close friend.
Following her initial cancer diagnosis and treatment she was invited to attend the inaugural Shay's Warriors I AM HOPE Survivors Retreat. Shay's Warriors mission is to inspire, inform, empower and help heal cancer survivors and their families through health, fitness and the mind-body connection. Following the retreat she became active with Shay's Warriors, serving as an ambassador, advocate and volunteer. She shared her cancer story openly and willingly, hoping others would benefit from her experience. She was a true warrior throughout her cancer battle, facing each challenge with courage, grace and humor.
She is survived by her husband Charles "Charlie". They celebrated 50 years of marriage on August 31, 2024. In addition to her husband, she is survived by her brother John (Pam) Maloney of Phoenix AZ, brothers-in-law Frank Gianguzi of Danielsville PA and Mark Gianguzi of Coopersburg PA and sister-in-law Michelle Gianguzi Mills of Easton PA, and several cousins, nieces and nephews.
At Eileen's request there will be no service. Memorial contributions can be made to Shay's Warriors at https://shayswarriors.org.
