Eileen Josephine Lahey of West Union, IA passed away on July 20, 2025.
She was born on January 31, 1939, in Dubuque County to John and Josephine (Sigwarth) Leick. Eileen was united in marriage to Merle on September 28, 1957. Four children were born to this union.
She is survived by her daughter Sue (Kevin) Brockway of West Union, IA, son Steve "JJ" Lahey of West Union, IA, daughter Michelle (Mike) Gonzales of Salt Lake City, Utah and daughter Jill Dittmer of Iowa City, IA; five grandchildren; five great grandchildren; brother Melvin Leick and Ken (Tara) Leick.
Eileen was preceded in death by her husband, Merle; her parents; brothers, Norb, Tony, and Vern; sister, Rita Link; and a granddaughter, Stephanie Brockway.
Everyone who knew Eileen knew her to be generous, genuine, and kind. She was a great friend and even better wife, mom, and grandma. She loved playing cards and never missed an opportunity to play. She also loved to read, spend time with family, and her "extra" grandkids". She will be missed by so many.
Eileen spent her last few years at Stoney Brook Village in West Union where they took exceptional care of her. We would also like to thank the hospice team for their kindness and expert care.
Visitation will be Monday, July 28, 2025, at 9:00 am at Holy Name Catholic Church, West Union. Services will follow at 10:30 am. The family was assisted by the Iowa Cremation.
