Eileen Monroe Obituary

Obituary published on Legacy.com by Ballard Funeral Home on Jan. 7, 2026.
Eileen Joan (Ashbeck) Monroe was a stand-alone, resolute, strong, opinionated, loving, wise woman. Now, there is one less Packer fan. She died peacefully in her home in Cody WY, at the age of 85, on January 2nd, 2026.

Eileen was born in Wisconsin Rapids, WI. April 20, 1940 to George and Mary Ashbeck, Eileen spent several formative years with her grandmother in rural Wisconsin, where she learned, and later passed on the family history. She was the oldest of their five children.

Graduating from Assumption High School in 1958, she left for beauty school in Milwaukee WI, to begin a long career. She married Michael George Monroe in 1964, and had two daughters. The family moved to the Midwest WY in 1979, beginning a new career in the oil business. The family moved to Casper Wy after divorcing in 1985, Eileen and her daughters moved to Cody WY in 1986. She continued with Marathon Oil until retirement, but found a bond of friendship working at St. Anthony's Catholic Church until 2010.

She was the heart and soul of her family, also known for her baking prowess to keep the heritage of her parents and grandparents alive. She is survived by daughters Beth Ann Lindberg, her husband Hans Lennart Lindberg; Michele Mary Monroe, her fiancée Brian Lawrence Mota; granddaughter Marybeth Eileen McNamara, and grandson Andrew Lee Johnston, his fiancée, Karol Teresa Alva.

Eileen is also survived by three sisters; Kathleen Moran, her husband Mike, Rudolph WI, Dianne Kennedy, Dallas TX, Maribeth Anderson, her husband Bob, of Minneapolis MN, sister-in-law Sue Ashbeck, Midwest WY, along with a number of nieces, nephews, and great nieces and nephews. She was preceded in death by her parents, her ex-husband, brother Ron Ashbeck, grandson Matthew Joseph McNamara, and great granddaughter, Malice Cypress McNamara.

Eileen will be remembered for her quick replies, giving to others, and affectionally named "Beast Grams," by her grandson. The family will dearly miss her and treasure her memories.

A celebration of life will be held at a later date. Services are pending with Ballard Funeral Home.
