Eileen R. Spawn

Eileen R. Spawn, age 86 of Johnstown, NY, passed away peacefully May 26, 2025, at The Wells House.
She was born on December 27, 1938. She was the daughter of the late Clarence and Mabel Winchell.
Eileen was a graduate of Johnstown High School and then married her high school sweetheart, Raymond Spawn, on November 2, 1957. He died December 4, 2023. She was a navy wife and homemaker for 20 years, traveling all over the Eastern US.
After the Navy, they settled back in Johnstown where she became involved in her church, Christ Lutheran Church. She served on the church council for several years and was the organist and eventually the choir director. She loved her work at the church, but had to retire early due to the progression of her MS.
Eileen loved her family very much. She was so proud of her grandchildren. They were her greatest joy.
Eileen is survived by her son Mike Spawn and his wife Lisa. Grandson Michael Spawn and his wife Mary, and granddaughter Ashley Spawn, all from South Carolina. She is also survived by her brother-in-law, Alan Spawn and his wife Dianne from Johnstown. Also, many cousins, nieces and nephews.
In addition to her husband Raymond, Eileen was predeceased by her daughter Lori Jean Spawn and her granddaughter Alicia Spawn.
We would like to give heartfelt thanks to Dr. Hassam for his kindness and wonderful care he gave to mom throughout the years. His patients are lucky to have him. He was always there if we needed him at a moment's notice.
From the bottom of our hearts, we would like to thank her home health aides who took care of her every day. Thank you to Mary, Becky, Lexi, and Donna. Mom wanted to remain in her home in her final years. Without you, this would not have been possible. We will be forever grateful to you for treating her with dignity and love. We would also like to thank Katie, her hospice nurse, and the staff at The Wells House for the care they gave her in her final days. Arlene and Debbie, thank you for being by her side every day for the past 3 months. That gave her great comfort knowing you were there.
There will be a graveside service which will be held Tuesday, June 3, 2025, at 11:00 AM at Fern Dale Cemetery, Johnstown.
Arrangements have been entrusted to the A.G. Cole Funeral Home Inc., 215 E. Main Street, Johnstown, NY.
