Elaine A. Arco

Elaine Arco, 81, of Rockford, passed away on Saturday, November 4, 2023 at Fairhaven Christian Retirement Center. Born October 1, 1942, in Decatur, the daughter of Evert A. and Laura M. (Schumacher) Anderson. Graduate of East High School, Class of 1960 and Northern Illinois University with a Master's of Education. Elaine married Charles Arco, Sr. on October 22, 1971. He predeceased her on January 16, 1989. She worked for Marengo and Rockford Board of Education retiring in 1987. Elaine was a member of New Life Assembly of God where she was a church board member and treasurer. She was also a former member of First Assembly of God and Winnebago County Retired Teachers Association Board Member.
Survived by her cousins; Jane (Matthew) Brooks, Gayle (Mel) Kruse and Pastor Tom (Sandie) Anderson; step-children, Charles (Karen) Arco, Jr., Steve (Robin) Arco, and Joette Callerman; and step-grandchildren, Lucia Arco, Stephanie Arco, Maria Pensinger and Ian Cooper.
Graveside services will be held at 10:30 a.m. on Monday, November 13, 2023 in Scandinavian Cemetery, Rockford. In lieu of flowers, memorials may be made to New Life Assembly Church, 8501 Forest Hills Rd., Loves Park, IL 61111. To share a memory or online condolence, visit olsonfh.com
