Elaine R. Benoit

Elaine R. (Martin) Benoit, aged 88, of Taunton, passed away on Tuesday, April 8, 2025, at Morton Hospital in Taunton. She was the beloved wife of the late Richard L. Benoit Sr. Born in Taunton on December 29, 1936, Elaine was the daughter of the late Irene (Charette) Martin and Arthur Martin.
Elaine was dedicated to helping others. She was renowned throughout her neighborhood as the community babysitter, always willing to lend a helping hand. Elaine volunteered her time at the local thrift store and enjoyed participating in all the local activities with her handicapped son. Known affectionately as "Mama B" throughout the community, Elaine was appreciated for her caring nature and dedication to all who knew her. She cherished attending yard sales and thrift shopping, always in pursuit of a good deal. Elaine had a profound love for animals, especially cats, but her greatest joy in life was spending time with her beloved family.
Elaine was a devoted mother to Richard L. Benoit Jr., Linda M. (Benoit) Bernardo, Michael A. Benoit, and Renae J. Benoit. She was a cherished grandmother to Haley J. Bernardo, Amber L. Amaral, and Cody M. Amaral. Additionally, Elaine was a surrogate mother to all the neighborhood children.
Visitation and burial will be private. In lieu of flowers, expressions of sympathy may be made in Elaine's name to the Taunton Animal Shelter/ Care Facility, 821 West Water Street, Taunton, MA 02780.
