Eleanor M. Cleary

Eleanor Cleary, 100, passed away peacefully on Saturday, October 4, 2025.

Eleanor is survived by her daughters, Mary Pat (Kurt) and Maureen (Paul); grandchildren, Brian, Colleen (Peter) and Sean; great grandchildren, Jacob and Nathan; nieces and nephews and her long time friend, Joan.

Eleanor was preceded in death by her loving husband, John, and her parents, Frank and Ann.

As a woman of such strong faith, Eleanor dedicated much of her time to her church, Saint Anne Catholic Church of Oswego. She worked in the church office, assisted with funeral luncheons and religious goods. Eleanor also took pride in the fact that she was a Eucharistic Minister and a devout member of the Saint Anne's Seniors group.

Eleanor was a strong-willed lady who also had a wonderful sense of humor and a joke to tell at all times. Above all, the most important thing to Eleanor was her time spent with her grandchildren. She enjoyed playing cards and other games with them as well as taking trips to the beach together. Of all the good times spent together the most precious were the holidays. Eleanor always had stockings for the grandchildren and great grandchildren at Christmastime and Easter egg hunts for them at Easter.

Eleanor will be deeply missed by all who had the honor of knowing her.

Family will be receiving guests on Monday, October 13, 2025 from 9:30am until 10:30am at Dieterle Memorial Home, 1120 South Broadway, Montgomery, IL 60538. A funeral mass will be held on Monday, October 13, 2025 at 11:00am at Saint Anne Catholic Church, 551 Boulder Hill Pass, Oswego, IL 60543. Burial will immediately follow at Queen of Heaven Cemetery, 1400 South Wolf Road, Hillside, IL 60162.
