Eleanor Mignon Counts, born on January 23, 1943, passed away peacefully in her home on August 24, 2025. Mignon lived a life full of love and dedication, and her memory will be cherished by all who knew her.
On May 4, 1962, Mignon married her beloved husband, Jimmy Dow Counts. They were truly devoted to each other and built a beautiful life together and raised a wonderful family. Mignon is survived by her loving husband, Jimmy; her daughter Carmen Weathersbee and her husband Raymond from Holliday, Texas; and her son Jim Wesley Counts and his wife Robin from Rotan, Texas.
Mignon was also a proud grandmother to Wade Weathersbee and his significant other, Jenee Jue, of Wichita Falls, Texas, Leighan James and her husband Ross of Arrington, Tennessee, Matthew Ledbetter and his wife Julia of Roby, Texas, Christian Pollack of Sweetwater, Texas, and Rachel Counts of Abilene, Texas. Her legacy continues through her greatgrandchildren: Harley Silvas and her husband Dakota of Birmingham, Alabama, Jeremy James and his wife Taylor of Franklin, Tennessee, Grady James of Arrington, Tennessee, Maddy James of Arrington, Tennessee, Parker Weathersbee of Argyle, Texas, Olivia Weathersbee of Argyle, Texas, Rowan Franklin of Holliday, Texas, Bree Franklin, of Holliday, Texas, and Carson Ledbetter of Roby, Texas. She also celebrated the joy of a great-great-grandchild, Ruthie Silvas of Birmingham, Alabama.
Mignon is survived by her sister, Paula Sharon Glover. She was preceded in death by her parents Paul Epke Gruben and Virginia (Stephens) Gruben, and her brother, Billy Max Gruben.
Mignon had many interests and hobbies that she enjoyed throughout her life. She loved to watch the Dallas Cowboys, crochet blankets, garden, dance, and hand stamp napkins for weddings, showers, and birthday parties, and make rice bags and ribbon roses for weddings. She enjoyed singing and playing the piano, and loved her family unconditionally and deeply. After raising her two kids, Mignon decided to go to work and spent over 20 years working for National Gypsum in Rotan.
Her visitation will be held on August 28, 2025, from 1:30 PM to 2:30 at Weathersbee Ray Funeral Home in Rotan, Texas. This will be followed by a graveside service at Belvieu Cemetery in Rotan at 3:00 PM.
Mignon Counts will be remembered as a loving wife, mother, grandmother, sister, aunt, and friend who touched the hearts of many. Her spirit will live on in the memories of those who loved her.
The family would like to thank the Hospice team from Hendricks in Abilene for their wonderful care of our beautiful mother. Traveling daily from Abilene to Rotan, they showed the utmost compassion and kindness to her, as well as to us during these last few weeks. We cannot thank them enough for being the reason we were able to keep her in her own home during this time.
We would also like to extend our thanks to Dede and her wonderful staff at Weathersbee-Ray Funeral Home for their help and kindness during this trying time.
