Joyce May (Shipp) Vaughan, a dedicated aerospace professional and cherished member of her community, passed away on October 4, 2025, at the age of 84. Born on February 23, 1941, in Porterville, California, Joyce graduated from Rotan High School in 1959, stepping into a world that she would soon influence significantly.

Joyce Vaughan’s legacy is one marked by dedication to excellence, innovation, and a profound impact on those she worked alongside. From 1979 to 1984, Joyce also served as a secretary, dispatcher, and coordinator for CRC Wireline. Her role was central to the daily operational success of the field teams—ensuring administrative precision, clear communication, and logistical efficiency. Her work behind the scenes was critical, enabling others to do theirs safely and effectively—a quiet but powerful contribution.

Her remarkable journey in the field of aerospace engineering began at United Space Alliance in Houston, where she left an indelible mark on the space exploration industry. As a certified product coordinator and scheduler, she played a critical role in developing and delivering flight design products for shuttle missions. Her commitment to excellence did not go unnoticed.

Throughout her career, she received numerous accolades, including NASA's Space Flight Awareness Launch Honoree, two Sustained Superior Performance Awards, and two Employee of the Month Awards. Additionally, she was honored with two Instant Compensation Awards for her exceptional contributions to the team. She worked on a total of seventeen shuttle missions during her career.

Joyce's dedication extended beyond her individual achievements; she proudly served as a member of the Horizontal Prototype Flight Team, which was nominated for the prestigious Rockwell International Chairman's Team Award. Among her proudest accomplishments was the development of the Product Coordinator Training Library, a groundbreaking initiative that streamlined training for new product coordinators—reducing the training time from one year to less than six months.

Joyce was preceded in death by her parents, Ollie and Fern Shipp; her brother, Harold, and his wife, Bea Shipp; and her husband, Donald Mac Park. She is survived by three sons: BroDon and wife, Christa Park, Jimmy Vaughan, and Danny Vaughan; one daughter, Cathy Vaughan; eight grandsons, two granddaughters, six great-grandchildren, and two more on the way; one sister, Lois Moore, and her family; along with many other relatives and dear friends.

Visitation will be held at 9:00 AM on Tuesday, October 7, 2025, at the Weathersbee-Ray Funeral Home in Rotan, Texas. Funeral services will begin at 10:00 AM in the chapel. Following the service, burial will take place at Riverdale Cemetery.

Her life was committed to her children's future and their well-being. She loved people deeply, and if you were one of her close friends, you undoubtedly carry more than one story of her love, laughter, and unwavering loyalty.

Joyce’s presence lit up every room she entered. She possessed a quiet strength and a gentle wisdom that inspired those around her. Whether mentoring young professionals, serving her community, or simply offering a listening ear, she gave fully of herself. Her legacy will live on in the lives she touched, the lessons she imparted, and the family she cherished.

She leaves behind not just memories, but a model of how to live with courage, tenacity, purpose, and compassion. Her story is not over—it continues through the kindness we show, the courage we pursue, and the love we share in her honor.
