SISTER ELEANOR GIULIANI, SHS
Sister Eleanor Giuliani grew up in Steubenville, Ohio, the daughter of Saveria and Helen Wilczenski Giuliani. Following her graduation from Steubenville Central Catholic High School, she entered community in 1949. Six years later she professed her perpetual vows as a Sister of the Holy Ghost taking the name "Sister M. Severia".
For most of the next 65 years, Sister Eleanor ministered in the field of education. She graduated from Duquesne University with a Bachelor of Science in Education and became a beloved teacher in schools in Pennsylvania and Ohio: at St. Alphonsus in Wexford, Immaculate Conception in Bloomfield, St. Clement in Navarre, Ohio, Holy Cross in Glassport, and Holy Ghost High School.
In the summer of 1970, Sister Eleanor and Sister Mary Lou Witkowski went to the Diocese of Grand Island in Nebraska. There they worked with migrant laborers and with many poor and elderly people. Sister was deeply moved by the poverty of the people.
Following her teaching ministry, Sister Eleanor began a new ministry in 1991 at Marian Manor Nursing Facility, where she was the Director of Central Supplies, and later worked with the Essential Oils Aroma Therapy program and in 1999 began the Pet Therapy Program with Star, the Manor's Lab dog.
While Sister was still ministering at Marian Manor Nursing Facility, her beloved brother Lawrence and only sibling died. Closing the family home and putting all things in order was a difficult time for her. She later said, "Abrupt changes in life require strength and perseverance."
Following a hospitalization in 2023, Sister Eleanor returned to Vincentian Marian Manor; however, this time it was as a resident. She later moved to Kane Scott Regional facility until she went home to God on February, 22, 2025.
Sister Eleanor was a lovely and dedicated Sister who brought much joy to the lives of many people. Her cousins and friends, Holy Ghost High School alumnae, and the Sisters of the Holy Spirit all hold a special place for her in their hearts.
Friends will be received Wednesday, February 26, from 2 p.m. to 7 p.m. with the Prayer Vigil, which begins at 6:30 p.m., and Thursday, February 27, from noon to 1 p.m. at the Sisters of the Holy Spirit Motherhouse. Mass of Christian Burial will be offered on Thursday, February 27 at 1:30 p.m. in the Motherhouse Chapel.

Dear Sisters of the Holy Spirit,
Sister Eleanor was one of a kind and her outlook on life and love of God was glorious. I have so many wonderful memories of Sister Eleanor, and of Star. Sister is now in the loving arms of God and our Lord Jesus Christ. When the sun shines bright, I will know it is her looking down on me. I will never forget her. Most sincerely and with love, Martha Stillwagon.
