Eleanor "Sissy" Quigley, of Philadelphia, passed away on April 20th, at the age of 73. She was the beloved sister of Joe Quigley (Karen), and Carol Fosbenner (Wink); the loving aunt of Jamie, Steven, Frank, Jennifer, Kelly, Katie, Colleen, James, Brian, Michael, and Sean; and loving great aunt of Cadence, Serena, Willow, Liam, Amy, Gabe, Cole, Leanna, Emilyn, Brooke, and Michael. Sissy was predeceased by her parents James and Eleanor Quigley, and her siblings James Quigley, and Rosemary Ludin.
Sissy was born and raised in Philadelphia. She was a graduate of Cardinal Dougherty High School, class of 1968. She was a great athlete, and played softball and basketball. Sissy worked for SK&F Pharmaceuticals in Philadelphia for over 30 years. She began as an assembly line worker, and retired as an office manager. After retiring she started to work the local union halls as a caterer. Sissy was an avid Phillies fan.
Most of all Sissy loved her family, and was a 2nd mother to her nieces and nephews. She was known for her sassy personality, giving nature, and always wore her heart on her sleeve. If you needed something she would give you the shirt off her back. Sissy will be greatly missed by those who knew and loved her.
Family and friends are invited to Sissy's Life Celebration on Sunday, April 30th, from 6 – 8PM at the John F. Givnish Funeral Home, 10975 Academy Rd., Philadelphia, PA 19154, and a visitation will take place on Monday, May 1st from 10 – 11 AM at Assumption BVM Church, 1900 Meadowbrook Rd, Feasterville-Trevose, PA 19053. A funeral mass will follow 11 AM. Interment services will take place at Holy Sepulchre, Cheltenham. In lieu of flowers, donations can be made in Eleanor's name to the Women's Animal Society.
