Eleanor Sullivan, of Buffalo Grove, passed away peacefully on June 16, 2025, at the age of 86. Born in Chicago on October 2, 1938, Eleanor was raised in the city's Austin neighborhood. After graduating from high school, she began a long and respected career as a legal assistant, lending her skills and dedication to several prominent law firms across Chicago.
Eleanor will be remembered her for her remarkably sweet and gentle nature. Her greatest devotion was to her family; she shared a wonderful relationship with her mother, Agnes, and maintained a deep, loving bond with her extended family throughout her life.
Upon her retirement, Eleanor embraced her passion for travel, exploring her favorite destinations in Europe, with a special affection for Italy. A woman of deep faith, she was a devoted and active member of the St. Mary of Vernon Parish. Eleanor's warmth and kindness touched all who knew her. She was loved by many and will be profoundly missed.
Eleanor is survived by her nieces and nephews Patricia (Thomas), JoAnne (Bill), Joan Marie, Richard (Sheryl), George, Celia (Chris), Carol (Gary), Joan Marie (Steve) and John (Kathy); many great and great-great nieces and nephews. She is preceded in death by her mom Agnes; her siblings Anna Grace (the late Raymond), Gloria (the late Bill), Bill (the late Drinette), Jack (the late Dorothy) and Mary Agnes (the late Donald).
Visitation will be from 9:30 - 10:25 AM on Tuesday July 1st at St. Mary of Vernon Catholic Church, 236 US 45, Indian Creek, IL 60061. Funeral Mass will be 10:30 AM on Tuesday July 1st at St. Mary of Vernon Catholic Church, 236 US 45, Indian Creek, IL 60061.
