In Loving Memory of Elena Retana Tamayo
With hearts full of both sorrow and gratitude, we announce the peaceful passing of our beloved mother, Elena Retana Tamayo who departed this world on July 19, 2025, surrounded by those she loved most.
Elena was more than a mother - she was the quiet strength in the background of every joy, the gentle hand in every hardship, and the unwavering light that guided our family with grace, patience, and wisdom.
Her love was constant and profound, a love that showed up not just in grand gestures but in everyday moments - a warm meal, a tender glance, a word of encouragement, a prayer or a little joke when we needed it most. She loved her puppy Annie, her beautiful plants, and bingo.
Elena was a woman of deep faith, quiet resilience, and boundless compassion. She lived with purpose and gave of herself freely, whether through her work, her friendships, or the way she cared for others without ever asking for anything in return. Her strength was not loud, but it was mighty. Her impact was not boastful, but it was lasting.
To know her was to feel safe. To be loved by her was to be known in a way only a mother can understand.
She is survived by her husband Antonio Tamayo. She leaves behind a legacy of love in the hearts of her children: Nancy, Irma (David), Lucina (James), Minerva (Samuel), Manuel (Cindy) Arthur (Cynthia), Sergio (Maria) Jorge (Imelda) and numerous grandchildren, great grandchildren, aunts, uncles and friends who were touched by her kindness and warmth. Though we will miss her every day, we are grateful for every moment we shared and for the way she made our world brighter simply by being in it.
As we say goodbye, we do so with deep sorrow - but also with immense gratitude for the life she lived and the love she gave. May her soul find rest, and may we carry her memory forward in all we do.
