Elenora Cira Bungard was born on September 6, 1926 to Valeria (Rusz) Cira and Vasilie "Charles" Cira in Dellslow, West Virginia. Her father was a coal miner and her mother a homemaker.
Nora was a graduate of Morgantown High School in Morgantown, West Virginia. She attended Morgantown Business College and received an Associate's degree from Kellogg Community College in Battle Creek, Michigan. Nora was first employed by Bethlehem Colliers Corporation, a Subsidiary of Bethlehem Steel Company, then as a bank teller in Morgantown.
After Nora's marriage to Paul Richard Bungard on June 5, 1951, they moved to Aniston, Alabama, where she was employed as a bank teller. After Paul was transferred to the Redstone Arsenal in Huntsville, Alabama, Nora worked for Rohm and Haas, a chemical company. After Paul took a position with Civil Defense & later FEMA in Battle Creek, Michigan, Nora was employed as a secretary at Lakeview High School. She later worked as a bookkeeper at an electrical contracting company. Nora and Paul moved to West Virginia upon his retirement. Nora moved to Frankfort Michigan to be near family in 2005 and became active in the First Congregational Church.
Nora was an avid reader from an early age. She regularly travelled five miles by bus to the public library. She loved to travel with friends and family and visited the American Southwest, Alaska, Hawaii, Barbados, the Bahamas' Harbour Island and many European countries. Nora particularly enjoyed a hot air balloon ride during her travels in Arizona. She was blessed with a sharp mind and wit until the end of her life.
Nora is survived by her children, Teresa (Glenn) Mensching of Frankfort MI and Christopher (Denise) Bungard of Helotes TX; grandchildren Seth Mensching, Henry Mensching both of Ann Arbor MI and Krista Bungard (Pete Esquivel) of San Antonio TX; great-grandson Christian Bungard Esquivel of San Antonio; sisters Marian Lynch of Sterling VA and Pauline George of Rawlings MD; sister-in-law Linda Cira of Ransom WV; and numerous nephews and nieces.
Nora was preceded in death by her parents, her husband Paul in 1993, and brothers John Cira (spouse Mary Ann), Charles Cira Jr. (spouse Delores), and Dan Cira.
The family is very grateful for the loving care provided by the staff at the Frankfort Pines and from Heartland Hospice.
