Eleonore Fuxan Metrejean

A Mass of Christian Burial will be held on Friday, November 14, 2025, at 11:00 am at Saint Edmond Roman Catholic Church in Lafayette, LA for Eleonore Fuxan Metrejean, 95, who passed away on Monday, November 10, 2025, at her residence in Lafayette, LA.

Visitation will be observed at Fountain Memorial Funeral Home in Lafayette, LA on Friday, November 14, 2025, from 9:00 am until the time of service.

Father Joe Campion, of St. Edmond Roman Catholic Church in Lafayette, LA, will officiate.

Father Andre Metrejean of St. Martin de Tours Catholic Church will recite the committal prayers. Entombment will follow in Fountain Memorial Cemetery in Lafayette, LA.

Eleonore Fuxan Metrejean, was born to the late Arthur Joseph and Eleonore Ravain Fuxan in New Orleans, LA. After growing up in New Orleans, she graduated from St. Joseph's High School at the age of 16. Eleonore attended Business College and began working for the FBI as a Secretary until the birth of her first child. She and her husband, Gervies, then moved to Lafayette in 1954. Eleonore worked alongside of her husband in their business, Met's Automotive Specialist, for over 25 years.

Eleonore is survived by her four children, Pamela Megison and her husband, Ed, Gervies Metrejean, Jr., and his wife, Angel, Janelle Cooney and her husband, Gerry and Todd Metrejean and his wife, Margaret; her nine grandchildren, Alicia Megison, Rachel Megison, Natalie Lewis and her husband, Josh, Valerie Woener and her husband, Tyler, Cameron Metrejean, Ryan Cooney, Grace Cooney, Father Andre Metrejean and Thomas Metrejean; her five great-grandchildren, Tobin Bartels, Owen Lewis, Scottie Lewis, Vivian Woerner and Vanna Woerner and her two brothers, Arthur Fuxan and Ronald Fuxan.

She was preceded in death by her husband of 50 years, Gervies Joseph Metrejean, Sr.; her brothers, Henry Fuxan, Louis Fuxan, Robert Fuxan and John Fuxan; her sisters, Marie Lusky, Yvonne Fritcher and Alma Quintana and her granddaughter, Sister Claire Metrejean, M.C.

The family wishes to thank the staff of Hospice of Acadiana and her longtime caregivers, Temica Skinner, Sarah Landry and Marie Rubin for the compassionate care given to Eleonore and her family.
