Kathryn Ann Manning, was born September 15, 1988, in
Lafayette, LA with Spina Bifida and a brain stem malformation that affected her breathing. Her prognosis was not good but we relied on God's provision. We brought her home from the hospital and she blossomed into an adult.
Kathryn has had many battles in her life, but she never complained. Her breast cancer was treated for about a year before it went into her brain. God has numbered all of our days. Kathryn ran her race very well and fought the good fight until the day our Lord called her home. We are very proud of Kathryn's attitude, strength and faith in God.
Kathryn graduated from Acadiana High School in
Lafayette, LA, Class of 2008. She was a life-time member of First Baptist Church in
Lafayette, LA.
The most favorite week of the year for Kathryn was the week she attended Camp Pelican each summer. Located near Leesville, at the Lions Camp, Kathryn was surrounded by respiratory therapists, nurses, doctors, aides and volunteers; most of all, she was surrounded by love. They have appropriate activities for the children and offer an environment of camp, love, lots of fun, games and friends for life.
Kathryn enjoyed her church family, Acadiana Wrecking Rams football, helping to bake cakes, Country music, Christian music, planting flowers, Science, naming birds, computers and remote controls. Most of all, she loved people and connected with friends, cousins and family. Kathyrn celebrated the joy of others and was there for anyone who was having a hard time, never focusing on her own health issues.
Kathryn is survived by her father, Rodney Eugene Manning and Catherine Aertker Manning, of
Lafayette, LA; her sister, Victoria Ruth Manning, of
Lafayette, LA and numerous aunts, uncles and cousins.
She was preceded in death by her mother, Johnette Renee Black Manning; her paternal grandparents, Joan and Eugene Manning and her maternal grandparents, Ruth and Dick Black.
Honored to serve as Pallbearers are Kade Kelemen, John Manning, Will Petit, Jake Lensing, Tim Rhinehart, Ben Frith, Cornelius Manning, James Theriot and Andrew Manning.
The family wishes to thank Liz Long Cormier of First Options Home Health for 17 years of dedicated nursing and becoming part of our family. They would like to thank the staff at ICU of Ochsner of Lafayette General Medical Center for their dedication during this difficult time and Dr. Phillippe Prouet, Kathryn's caring, intelligent, kind and humble oncologist who was always there for Kathryn. She felt so much comfort and completely trusted him.
