Eli Bartholomew Martin

October 25, 1973 – April17, 2025

Eli Martin, died in his home on April 17th, 2025, at the age of 51. He was born in Poughkeepsie, New York, to Mary Margaret and Gary Edwin Martin. His parents died at a young age and he was raised by family members. After attending a private college in New York, he moved to Toledo to be with friends.

Eli was employed for many years by You First By Grant Services as a job coach and manager of the All Together Now Used Book and Record Store.

A voracious reader, his home overflowed with books and records. He was eclectic in his choice of literature and music. He had a very dry sense of humor, and his verbal asides at family gatherings were a source of amusement, as long as you were not the one he was targeting.

He is survived by his much-loved Life Partner, Katherine Nicolls, and his daughter Felicity Martin, as well as many family members and friends.

Eli struggled with many health issues over the last six months, but until the end fought fiercely to recover and return to work. He adored, and was so proud of his daughter Felicity, and he will be missed by his family and friends.

May his memory be a blessing.

Eli was definitely one of a kind. I don't remember a conversation with Eli where I didn't have a good laugh. He had a way of turning any topic of conversation into a humorous time. Eli has been a consistent friend and advocate to the individuals he worked with. He was more than a manager or job coach he was family. He made the record store a fun and safe place to work. He leaves behind many broken hearts here at You First. Our prayers and deepest condolences go out to Katie and Felicity. We are so very sorry for your loss.

Eli was the first person to know I was pregnant with my son at You First. His dry sense of humor always made me laugh. He had the biggest heart under all that dry humor though. My heart is devastated. Praying for all his family during this heart break. Katie you are such a special women, I just adore you and all you've done for him.
