Elick Lamar Murphy Obituary
Elick Lamar Murphy of
Saint Paul, Minnesota, formerly of
South Bend, Indiana, passed away on Wednesday, December 27, 2023. He was born in
Choctaw, Mississippi on February 12, 1953, to the union of Harvey Lee Murphy and Laviada (Lane) Murphy. Elick was raised by his grandparents, Ross Pleasant and Voila Carter. Elick left Mississippi in 1969 to reunite with his mother and siblings in
South Bend, Indiana; in doing so, he changed his name to Lamont. Lamont met his first love, Gail Reynolds. In 1971, he joined the Army, serving three years. Upon leaving, he made his way to
Kansas City, Missouri, where he met Dorothy Ford. He remained in Kansas City for many years. Lamont traveled to
Saint Paul, Minnesota where his dad, Harvey Lee and Barbara Murphy lived. Lamont traveled back and forth for several years. In 2007, Lamont moved to
Moreno Valley, California and settled with Dorothy Hogan. He remained until his health turned for the worse. Once again Lamont moved back to
Saint Paul, Minnesota in June 2020 where he entered several nursing homes until his departure. Lamont was a good man, a kind and gentle spirit. He would give you the shirt off his back if one asked. He loved his family and had a special love for his four children and grandchildren. Lamont retired as a Chef. Elick's bucket list was to own an RV like his father, and Elick was very proud that he was able to finally purchase one. He loved R&B music and was very fashionable. Minnesota Vikings was his team. If there was a camera in the room, he was in front of it; but above all, Lamont loved the Lord.
