Elinor (Lynne) Mary King (Hunt) of Hanover, MA, passed away peacefully on October 30th, 2025, at the age of 79, after a courageous battle with Progressive Supranuclear Palsy ( PSP), with her devoted husband, James, and beloved son, Christopher, by her side.
Born to John and Elinor Hunt in Dorchester, MA, Lynne was the eldest of two siblings. She grew up in Dorchester, MA. and attended St. Clare's High School in Roslindale, MA. She became a registered nurse after graduating from the Boston City Hospital School of Nursing in 1968. Early in her career, she worked in various hospital settings across the country, finding great joy in helping others. Later, Lynne used her nursing expertise to launch a new medical auditing division at Bay State Healthcare, where she continued her pursuit of excellence in the healthcare industry and devotion to helping others. Upon her retirement from a successful career in the medical field, Lynne discovered a new passion for designing, building, and decorating homes. She had an eye for the details and created beautiful spaces for her family and friends to gather and enjoy.
Lynne and Jim began dating in 1966. They married on June 3, 1967, and spent the early years of their marriage traveling to new places in the U.S. for Jim's work. They welcomed their two loving sons, Ed and Chris, and together, as a family, they enjoyed summers boating on the waters of Florida and New England, and winters skiing in the mountains.
Lynne cherished her family and found great happiness in hosting family gatherings. She had immense joy in being a grandmother of 4, and she didn't pass up an opportunity to spend time with them and spoil them with her love. She brought a special magic to each holiday season and birthday celebration. Lynne was often seen cheering in the crowds on the fields, at the rinks, and in the theaters, as well as taking the grandkids on shopping adventures and to the beach.
Lynne was fiercely dedicated to her family and will forever remain in their hearts. She is survived by her husband of 58 years, James R. King, son, Christopher J. King, daughter-in-laws, Diane King and Jenn King, her 4 grandchildren, who brought her endless joy; Jimmy, Mason, Danny and Madelyn, her brother, John Hunt and his husband, Krisna Srihadi. Lynne is predeceased by her son, Edward J. King.
Lynne will be greatly missed but lovingly remembered.
