Townsend - It is with great sadness that we announce the passing of our mother and Grandmother, Elisabeth Vail (Huppertz) Keen, Maurice of Durham NH on February 13 surrounded by her loving family.
Lisa was born in Boston on June 30, 1936, a daughter of the late Stephen Vail and Elisabeth (Colson) Huppertz and grew up in Waban, MA. Lisa emitted sparkles of joy to everybody she encountered and was the light of every room she walked into. She loved her family, her children, her grandchildren, and her great-grandchildren. She enjoyed; knitting, line dancing, dogs, ice cream, traveling, the island of Montserrat, reading, genealogy, and attending all of her grandchildren's events. She had such a dedication to her family and friends, she was mostly referred to as Grandmother by everyone she knew because of her loving presence.
Lisa's purpose in life was to volunteer and give back. She truly was the most generous person. She was often found at the following places volunteering; White Elephants at the Congregational Church, Strawbery Banke, the polling stations for different elections, Supervisor of the Checklist- Durham, NH, Ready Rides, Echo Thrift Shop, the Tall Ships along with the Militia that welcomed the tall ships- Portsmouth, NH, Channel 11 auctions, and the Townsend Fire-EMS Relief Association bake sales.
Lisa continues to live on through her three children; Gordon H. Keen, Shahida P. Keen (Michelle Patrick), Kristine M. Galeota (Greg Galeota) and bonus daughters Carol M. Foster (Dwight Foster), Linda M. Mayer (Charles Mayer) and Donna M. Beggan (Michael Beggan). Plus her 10 Grandchildren; Katherine F. Mitchell (Matthew Mitchell), Hannah J. Mayer, Andrew C. Mayer, George R. Foster (Katie Hawn), Jane M. Erskine (Joseph Erskine), Jennifer M. Beggan (Samuel Crowell), Benjamin M. Foster, Sarah J. Beggan (Michael Palmisano), Sam A. Galeota (Alexandra Hecker) and Lucy H. Galeota (Jonathan Moore) and her three great-grandchildren, Lily M. Erskine, Hayden A. Galeota, and Lilly J. Palmisano. She is survived by her sister, Nancy H. Hulse.
Lisa was predeceased by her father Stephen V. Huppertz (1986), Mother Elisabeth C. Huppertz (1968), Albert E. Keen, and Nils A. Maurice (2020)
Calling hours will be held on Thursday, February 27, 2025 from 4 to 7 PM in the T.J. Anderson & Son Funeral Home, 250 Main Street, Townsend, MA 01469.
In lieu of flowers, memorial contributions may be made in her memory to the Community Hospice House, 7 Executive Park Drive, Merrimack, NH 03054.
With her, life was a celebration. Please use this day as a way to celebrate her life and not mourn her loss. Please hug your loved ones and tell them you love them.
"I will love you as long as the sun burns in the sky, as long as the moon shines its light into the dark night. Until the raging blue oceans become calm and run dry, I will love you until the end of time" - Christy Ann Martine
