Elizabeth "Betty" Chomentowski (nee Kealey) of Cherry Hill, NJ died April 25, 2025. Age 81.
After graduating from Bucknell University in 1965, Betty followed in her family's footsteps as a teacher in the New Jersey and Philadelphia school systems for over 30 years. In 1968, Betty married her love, Pete, and was a devoted wife until his passing in 2011. Together they raised and lovingly supported their three children while residing in the Erlton section of Cherry Hill for the past 50 years. Her true passion for theater made her a pivotal driving force and active member of Plays & Players Theatre in Philadelphia for over 5 decades. Betty directed countless acclaimed stage productions while also managing and nurturing the historic theater. But she mostly adored running their Children's Theatre Program, inspiring children of all ages, and invoking the child in adults of all ages.
Throughout her life she made many lifelong friends, whom she always considered family.
Beloved wife of the late Peter Joseph Chomentowski, Jr.. Loving mother of Peter Joseph Chomentowski III, Elaine Elizabeth Danzey and Matthew Chomentowski (Christina). Devoted grandmother of Matthew Major and Morgan Rose. Funeral services private.

In 1980, I was lucky enough to be christened into the Plays & Players family by Betty who cast me as the witch in "Hansel & Gretel" (and told me I didn't need make-up, a source of laughter for us for many years). From then on, I benefitted from her expertise as a director and
producer, many times over. Her range was vast as proven in 2011 by a particularly moving production of "Lost in Yonkers" she directed starring her lifelong friend, Helen McCrane, who preceded her to Heaven by about four months. It is only fitting that I last saw them both at their beloved Plays & Players last June when Betty directed Helen and John Cannon in "Love Letters". My husband, David P. Kozinski, and I send our thoughts and love to Elaine, Matt, Peter, Christina, Matt Major and Morgan Rose.
