She was born on May 18, 1935, in Keyser, WV, daughter of the late Luther and Minnie Snyder Leatherman.
Elizabeth worked part time at the former Stone & Thomas Department Store in Wheeling, WV and was a Methodist by faith.
She made great pasta salad, cookies, and birthday cakes for her family. She loved soap operas, squirrels, crafts, collecting things, going to garage sales, and working with her tablet. She was always there when needed and was great at giving advice.
In addition to her parents, she was preceded in death by her husband, Edwin Jesse Conaway in 2018; great-granddaughter, Melina; son-in-law, Dennis Beard; and all of her brothers and sisters.
Elizabeth is survived by her two daughters, Karen Beard and Joyce Conaway; son, Bruce (Melissa) Conaway; four grandchildren, Kare Ritchea, Edwin Ritchea, Kristopher Hill, and Daniel Hill; eleven great-grandchildren, including Dixie & Jeremiah; several nieces and nephews, including Rhonda Snyder; and her three cats, Smokie, Trouble, and Kitty.
Friends will be received on Sunday, July 20, 2025 from 12-4 & 6-8 PM and on Monday, July 21, 2025 from 9 AM until the time of service at 11 AM at Kepner Funeral Homes, 166 Kruger Street, Wheeling, WV (304-242-2311) with Pastor Thomas Rentfrow officiating. Interment to follow in Greenwood Cemetery, Wheeling, WV.
Memorial contributions may be made to the Ohio County Animal Shelter, 7011 National Road, Triadelphia, WV 26059.
