Elizabeth Goscinski, 101, an area resident of Mahopac for over 64 years, passed away peacefully on April 1, 2024.
Elizabeth was born on June 21, 1922 in Camden, NJ to Mary (Brusich) and George Mrsich. On April 5, 1942, she married her husband of over 60 years, Joseph Goscinski (deceased), at St. John's Church in the Kingsbridge section of the Bronx, NY.
Elizabeth was a beloved wife, mother, grandmother, great-grandmother, sister, aunt, and friend. She worked as a seamstress in the garment district in NYC and transitioned to tending to her family when she married. Elizabeth never lost her love of singing and dancing, even into her 100s. She will be remembered for her sense of humor, often eating the ears off of her grandchildren's chocolate Easter bunnies and imparting unsolicited dating advice to her grand and great-grandchildren. Above all, she loved her family dearly and nothing brought her more joy than to be surrounded by family and friends. Her presence will be sorely missed.
She is predeceased by her siblings Catherine Androvicz, Margaret Robben, George Mrsich, and John Mrsich, as well as her son, William Goscinski. She is survived by her daughters Helen and husband Paul Stepkoski, Joanne and husband Donald Icken, and her daughter-in-law Margaret Goscinski. She is also survived by her many grandchildren, Susan and her husband Guenter Lueck, Joseph Goscinski, Michael and his wife Lynn Stepkoski, James and his wife Amie Stepkoski, Stephen and his wife Ashley Stepkoski, Kevin Icken and his fiancée Brittani Carmandi-Weber, and Lauren and her husband Jared Sweeney, as well as 14 great-grandchildren.
Calling hours will be held on Monday, April 8, 2024 from 3:00 p.m. to 7:00 p.m. at Cargain Funeral Home, 418 Route 6 (GPS 418 US-6), Mahopac, New York. www.cargainfuneralhomes.com.
