Betty Kiefer died on July 25, 2025, surrounded by family members in her home in Elizabethtown, Kentucky.
Betty was born and raised in Louisville, Ky., graduating from St. Philip Neri School in 1948. She attended Holy Rosary Academy and graduated from the Academy of Our Lady of Mercy in 1952.
Betty was a member of St. Raphael the Archangel Catholic Church for many decades and was a member of the church's Altar Society and Homemaker Society. She moved several years ago to Elizabethtown and attended St. James Catholic Church there. In Louisville, she also was a member of Queen's Daughters and of the altar societies of St. Brigid and St. Therese parishes.
Betty was preceded in death by her husband of 61 years, Edward; infant sons John and George; parents, George W. and Florence E. (Kister) Kipfer; brothers-in-law Clarence, Raymond and Eugene Kiefer and Stanley Siegwald; sisters-in-law Thelma (Kiefer) Siegwald, Mary Agnita (Fackler) Kiefer and Peggy (Graviss) Kiefer; and cousin Ruby Klingler.
Survivors are sons David (Betsy) and Joseph (Debra); sister-in-law Ruth (Senn) Kiefer; grandchildren Martin Kiefer, Rebecca Kiefer, and Angela Kiefer (Nicholas Callahan); and cousins Peggy Whiteford, Judy Pierson Fredricks, Vivian Pierson and Wes Pierson.
Visitation is at Bosse Funeral Home, 1355 Ellison Avenue in Louisville from 3 to 8 p.m. on Wednesday, July 30. A Mass of Christian Burial will be celebrated at St. Raphael, 2141 Lancashire Ave. in Louisville, at 10 a.m. on Thursday, July 31, with burial to follow in Calvary Cemetery.
Memorial gifts may be made to Mass of the Air, Queen's Daughters, or Dare to Care Food Bank, all in Louisville, or Feeding America – Kentucky's Heartland in Elizabethtown.
