Elizabeth Marie Lenhardt

LENHARDT, Elizabeth M. "Betty". July 13, 2023. Age 103.
Beloved wife of the late James. Loving mother of Jim (Lynn) Lenhardt, Suzanne (Tom) Quinlan and Terry (Susan) Lenhardt. Cherished grandmother of Ryan Quinlan, Patrick (Nicole) Quinlan, Mike (Breanna) Lenhardt, Chris (Melanie Lauer) Lenhardt, Brendan Lenhardt, Maddy Lenhardt and the late Kathryn Quinlan. Adored great-grandmother of Quinn, Cora, Hunter, Rowan, Sean, Aaron, Lucy and Owen. Dear sister of Patrick McCarthy.
As a humble yet very determined young woman growing up during the Great Depression, Elizabeth found employment as an assistant buyer for the J.L. Hudson Company in Downtown Detroit, riding the streetcar to and from work every day. A family-oriented person from the very beginning, Elizabeth remained home throughout the Depression in order to help financially support her family.
In July 1944, Elizabeth married James Lenhardt, the love of her life, while he was on leave from the Army Air Force after completing his missions in Europe as a B-17 pilot. As life-long companions, Jim and Betty were very active at Sacred Heart Catholic Church and were avid square dancers.
Elizabeth always remained close to her parents, six brothers and two sisters, as well as her children, grandchildren and great grandchildren. She often said that she lived for her family and that it was her family that helped her live such a long life. She will be missed by all who knew her.
Visitation Monday, July 17, 2023 9am until the time of the 11am Funeral Service at Wujek-Calcaterra & Sons, Inc. 36900 Schoenherr at Metro Parkway (16 Mile). Interment at Resurrection Cemetery.
