March 13, 1932 - October 7, 2023
Elizabeth Louise "Betty Lou" Fike Myers, 91, passed away on Saturday, October 7, 2023 in the Serenity Household of Bridgewater Retirement Community.
She was born on March 13, 1932, in Maysville, WV, and was the daughter of the late Earle and Hannah (Myers) Fike.
Betty Lou was a life long member of the Church of the Brethren. She graduated from Broadway High School and earned her Bachelor's Degree from Bridgewater College. She taught school for over 30 years in Staunton, Salem and Rockingham County, primarily in the elementary division. She enjoyed sewing, baking, and reading. Betty Lou's greatest pleasure came from her children and grandchildren especially when she was able to host the family gatherings.
Betty Lou was united in marriage on December 22, 1951 to Melvin L. Myers, who preceded her in death on February 25, 2014.
She is survived by her children, Linda Arnette and husband Mike, Diane Stevens and husband Bobby, and Bruce Myers and wife Julie; her grandchildren, Jennifer Arnette; Matt Stevens and wife Leslie; Scott Stevens and wife Gavin; and Samantha Myers; great grandchildren, Bradley, Tyler Stevens, Atty Stevens, G.G. Stevens and Myers Stevens; her brother, Earle Fike and several nieces and nephews.
Services will be private.
A special thank you is extended to the staff of Serenity House and to her brother Earle for their loving and devoted care during Betty Lou's declining health.
Memorial contributions may be made to the charity of your choice.
