Elizabeth 'Liz' A. (Govoni) Scanland of Plymouth died peacefully, on August 24th, she was the beloved wife of the late John 'Mike' W. Scanland. Loving mother of Jean M. Scanland and Sue B. Morrison and her husband Scott all of Plymouth. She was the cherished grandmother of Jenna Morrison-Civitello and her husband David and Cody Morrison and his wife Sasha. Great grandmother Luca, Nico and Gio Civitello and Camila and Ellis Morrison. She was the sister of Paul J. Govoni of San Antonio, Texas and the late Henry A. Govoni. Also survived by several nieces and nephews.
Born in Plymouth on November 30, 1932, daughter of the late Henry J. and Freida M. (Greene) Govoni she was educated in Plymouth and a graduate of Plymouth High School class of 1950. She worked for New England Telephone for 6 years as an operator. Over the years she loved cooking and baking and would give away goods to family and friends. She enjoyed rug braiding, knitting, sewing, cleaning, gardening, reading, refinishing furniture and playing scrabble. She enjoyed many years vacationing at a cottage at Plymouth beach with her family. A volunteer with Catholic Charites thrift Shop for over 10 years.
A private graveside service will be held at South Pond Cemetery in Plymouth.
