Betty peacefully joined her Lord on Friday, Feb. 24, 2023, at the age of 95 years. Betty was preceded in death by her dear husband, Dr. Norbert J. Stefaniak, PhD, whom she wed in 1949. She was the patient and loving mother to John (Mary Helen) Stefaniak, Mary Lubarsky, Jane Stefaniak, Beth (Dean) Savas, Joel, Peter (Terry), James (Julie) and Thomas (Sheryl) Stefaniak, and Anne (James) Spaltholz and Jean (Jacob) Stolowski. Betty was the cherished Grandmother to Jeffrey (Monika) Stefaniak, Elizabeth (Van) Huett, Lauren Stefaniak, Eric (Erin) and Anthony (Rachel) Lubarsky, Amber, Quinlan, Courtney (Ryan Huebner), Caitlin, Ryan (Casey), Elyse, Hannah and Andrew Stefaniak, Callie (Jordan) Olsen, Tessa (William) Callan, Jack Spaltholz, Megan Loosen, Bridget Stolowski, and Kevin and Andrea Rozell. She was Great-Grandmother to David and Vanessa Huett, Ella, Joshua, Brooklyn and Jaxon Lubarsky, and Vivian, Cane, Jacob and Marcus Rozell, with two more great-grandchildren on the way. She is also survived by in-laws Frank Jennik, Eugene (Ann) Stefaniak and Mary Stefaniak. Betty was preceded in death by her parents, Ed and Tess Horning, and her four siblings: Robert (Maureen), Donald (Katy), Sr. Mariann and James Horning and in-laws Dorothy (Charles) Brede, Paul, Joseph (Lillian), Alois (Monica), Fr. James, Elizabeth (Gerald) Demeter and Rosemary Jennik.
Betty was a 1944 graduate of Mercy High School. Throughout her life, she continually did small things for others with great love. Her greatest joy was motherhood, and she also enjoyed reading, crossword puzzles, sewing, knitting, and golfing with Norb and her golfing friends.
Betty was an active member of Holy Assumption Parish for 68 years, volunteering in countless activities in the school and parish ministries including the food pantry.
In lieu of flowers, donations to the Bob and Maureen Horning Food Pantry at Holy Assumption are appreciated.
Visitation will be held on Saturday, March 4, 2023, at Holy Assumption Catholic Church, 1526 S. 72nd St, West Allis, from 10:00 AM - 11:45 AM. Mass of Christian Burial to follow at 12:00 noon. Private entombment at St. Adalbert Cemetery.
