OBITUARY
Ella W. Lake, was born on August 7, 1953, in Dallas County, Alabama, to Hannah Walter and Howard Walter. A lifelong resident of Selma and Birmingham, Alabama, Ella was a trailblazer and a woman of quiet strength and deep conviction. Ella was a proud graduate of the first integrated class of Selma High School, Class o f1971. She made history simply by walking in her truth and completing her education with the courage and grace during a pivotal moment in Alabama's history. In 2015, Ella made a personal and spiritual commitment by joining the Kingdom Hall of Jehovah's Witness in Birmingham, Alabama, where she found peace, purpose, and a spiritual family. On Saturday, May 24, 2025, at Vaughan Regional Medical Center in Selma, Alabama, Ella peacefully transitioned from this life. Her legacy lives on through her beloved sons, Cedric L. Walker of Selma, Alabama, and Quinton L. Lake of Birmingham, Alabama; her devoted mother, Hannah W. Grayson (Edward) of Selma, Alabama; her loving siblings: Thomas Walter (Willie Mae) of Birmingham, Alabama; Ellis Walter, Jr. of Atlanta, Georgia; Henry Walter, Michael Walter, Anthony Walter, and one sister, Shirley Walter all of Marion, Alabama. Ella's memory is cherished by a host of uncles, aunts, nieces, nephews, cousins, classmates, and friends who will forever honor the love, warmth, and wisdom she shared so freely.
