Ellen Sortman Obituary
03/04/1963 - 07/16/2024
Ellen Marie Sortman went to sing and dance in the streets of Heaven on Tuesday, July 16, 2024. She was born in 1963 in Findlay, Ohio. Ellen touched every heart in every community she was a part of, like her schools, Howard, Tiffin School for the Deaf, East Toledo Junior High and Devilbiss High School and churches, St. Michael's in Findlay, St. Agnes, Christ the King and St. Pius in Toledo. She was also involved with the Deaf Community and was employed with Wood County Hospital, LCBDD and Lott Industries. Ellen loved making and shopping for crafts of any kind, and if it was purple it was hers. She will delight in reuniting with her parents Jerome E. Sortman and Judith E. Sortman,.
Surviving and holding her memory in their hearts are siblings, Cathy (Mark) Owen, Jim (Rachel) Sortman and Christopher (Christina) Sortman; also surviving are nieces and nephews, Bex (Dawn) Miller, Nicole (Nick) Miller, Michaela (Nate) Linares, Brandon (Kelsey) Sortman, Andrew (Miranda) McLain, Skylar Middlebrooks, Andrew, Alexander, Sabrina, London, Xavier and Aubrey.
A special thank you to the Toledo area hospitals, nursing and rehab facilities, and the Anne Grady Center for the dedication to exceptional care for Ellen this past year. Visitation will be on Monday July 22, 2024 at the Urbanski Funeral Home, 5055 Secor Rd, Toledo, Ohio 43623 from 11:00 a.m. until 2:00 p.m. where the funeral services will begin at 2:00 p.m. followed by burial in Resurrection Catholic Cemetery. The family requests any donations be made to the Anne Grady Center or Hospice of Northwest Ohio.
