Elliot Pollack

Elliot Steven Pollack of Teaneck, dearly loved husband of Ron Levy, beloved brother of David (and his wife Carol), devoted father of Randi (and her husband Angelo) and Lesley, adoring grandfather of Madelyne (Lesley's daughter), and cherished friend to many, departed this life peacefully on February 1st after a brief illness, surrounded by his family. Mr. Pollack was pre-deceased by his parents Miriam and Morris, and his former wife Rhoda, [nee Schwartz], mother of Randi and Lesley.
Elliot was a distinguished educator with an illustrious career spanning over 30 years in the Ridgefield Park school system. A graduate of Rutgers and William Paterson Universities, he was recognized for his exceptional dedication to teaching, receiving multiple citations from the NJ State Senate and General Assembly. Notably, he earned a special commendation for designing a high school course entitled "Issues of Conscience," which delved into the Holocaust, prejudice, and matters of racial and sexual justice. He was recipient of a special grant which afforded him the opportunity to visit the concentration camps; this trip culminated in the creation of a documentary video.
Following his retirement, Elliot continued to share his knowledge as a public speaking instructor at Montclair University, as well as Bergen & Passaic Community Colleges. His passion for the performing arts, coupled with his talents as an actor and director, made him a familiar and recognized figure in that orbit. His love for everything on the stage, from Broadway musicals to Classical music and opera, from dance to drama, was infectious.
In particular, Elliot was devoted to the theatrical activities of MSU and the Cali School, where he exhibited great support and was an enthusiastic advocate for Cali's concerts and productions.
Elliot and Ron Levy shared a beautiful partnership that spanned 27 years, a testament to the deep bond they cultivated together.
As we mourn the loss of Elliot, let us also celebrate the legacy of a remarkable individual who contributed immensely to the world of education and the arts.
