Eloy Garcia
July 27, 1927 – April 17, 2025
Eloy Garcia, age 97, passed away peacefully on Thursday, April 17, 2025. Born on July 27, 1927, in the picturesque village of El Picu Sevares in Asturias, Spain, Eloy lived a rich and eventful life that took him across continents and through extraordinary times.
From his early years in Spain to his time in Havana, Cuba, Eloy carried with him a deep love for culture, family, and perseverance. On December 31, 1965, he immigrated to the United States, embracing a new chapter with strength, optimism, and an enduring commitment to his loved ones.
Eloy was a devoted husband to his late wife, Maria Cruz Garcia, and a loving father to his daughters, Maria Garcia and her husband Clayton Nash, and Jacqueline Epstein and her husband Jerry Epstein. He was a proud grandfather to Jennifer and Stephanie Epstein as well as Stephanie's future husband Brett Jackson. He was a beloved uncle to many nieces and nephews in both the United States and Spain.
He was an avid domino player and a true sports enthusiast. Eloy was especially passionate about fútbol and he was lifelong loyal supporter of Real Madrid, never leaving the house without wearing something bearing the team's crest. Whether watching matches or talking strategy, his love for the game-and his team-was infectious and unwavering.
He will be remembered for his warmth, wisdom, humor, and quiet strength, as well as the enduring legacy he leaves in the hearts of all who knew him.
Holy mass will be held in his honor at St. Patrick's Church in Lowell, MA at 10 AM on Friday, April 25, 2025 followed by procession to Saint Patrick Cemetery. Family and friends are welcome to meet at church, or gather at the McDonough Funeral Home, 14 Highland Street, Lowell, MA at 9 am for procession to church.
