LOWELL Susan J. Callahan, age 72, of Lowell, passed away on Monday, August 18, 2025 at Community Hospice House in Merrimack, NH. She was a daughter of the late Stephen and the late Shirley (Dowd) Callahan.
Born March 12, 1953, in Lowell, she was raised and educated in the Highlands Section of the City, and was a communicant of St. Margaret of Scotland Parish. In her younger years she played softball and basketball and was the first coach of the girls' softball team at Lowell High School.
Susan worked for the Lowell School Department as a Teacher for five years before disability forced her retirement.
Her survivors include her brother, Stephen J. Callahan of Lowell; her nephew, David Callahan and his wife, Ashley of Virginia; and her friends, Lynne Chase of Melrose and Ellen Shawnessy of Lowell. She was beloved by her wonderful neighbors.
Her funeral was held privately from the McDONOUGH FUNERAL HOME, 14 Highland Street, Lowell, 978-458-6816.
