Elpida Solomos, 89, of New Bedford, MA passed away on January 31, 2024 with her family by her side. Elpida was born in Chrisi, Greece on December 8, 1934. She and her family moved to Worcester in 1976 where Elpida worked at Worcester Knitting Company for many years.  She and her family moved to New Bedford in 1989 where she helped in the family business, G&S Pizza.  She and her husband enjoyed gardening, traveling, had an active social life and spent much of their time caring for their granddaughters.  She was very close to all of her siblings throughout her life and after retirement would travel to Greece whenever she could to spend time with her family.
She is predeceased by her beloved husband, Nikolaos, and her brother, Pavlos Zahariadis.  She will be missed by her son, Athanasios Solomos and his wife, Fay, her daughter Angela Argyriadis and her husband, Angelo, her five granddaughters, Elpida (Hope) Butts, Veronika Coccoli, Jaime Argyriadis, Nicole Mastrangelo and Nicole Argyriadis, four great-grandchildren, Natalie, Nicholas and Arthur Coccoli and Violet Butts, and her siblings, Kassiani Simeonidou and Argyrios Zahariadis. Visitation will be held from 10-11am on Saturday, February 3 at St. George’s Greek Orthodox Church, 186 Cross Road, Dartmouth, with a funeral service to immediately follow. Burial will be in Pine Grove Cemetery.
