Garrattsville
Elsie Marie Colburn, 86, of Garrattsville, passed away peacefully at Bassett Medical Center on Monday, April 15, 2024. Elsie was born on March 21, 1938 in Sayre, PA; a daughter of the late Donald R. and Kathryn L. (Chaffee) Steele.
Elsie was employed by Morris Central School as a Bus Driver for most of her life. She was a member of the Morris United Methodist Church, New Lisbon Senior Citizen's Club, Butternut Valley Cemetery Association and the Oneonta Moose Lodge 465. She loved to dance, listen to music, play pool, card games, dominos, camping and girls' trips. She loved attending her children's, grandchildren's and great-grand children's ball games. For all that knew Elsie personally, they would agree that she was a noble force of nature who was often very opinionated. She told you like she saw it and was often right. She enjoyed life to its fullest and never wanted to be left out of the conversation or adventure.
Elsie is survived by her loving children, Dennis John Wells, Robert (Charlene) Wells, Donna (Richard) Ferguson, Ed (Pam) Colburn and Louis (Melanie) Colburn; 13 Grandchildren; 18 Great-Grandchildren; special cousin, Becky Enck and several nieces, nephews and cousins. Elsie is predeceased by her sons Daniel M. Wells, David R. Wells and her sister, Delores Santarone.
Family and friends are invited to her Memorial Service on Wednesday, April 24, 2024 at 11AM at the United Methodist Church of Morris, 17 Church Street, Morris NY 13808 with Certified Lay Minister Penny Harrington, officiating. Her burial will follow at Brookside Cemetery in Gilbertsville. Donations in her memory may be made to the United Methodist Church of Morris, 17 Church Street, Morris, NY 13808.
