With heavy hearts we share the news that Elsie "Florence" (Reisner) Weaver, 96 years young left us for her eternal home on August 8th, 2025, at Deaconess Hospital in Evansville, Indiana surrounded by her loving family. Florence was a godly, beloved mother, grandmother, auntie and friend to many. She was born October 7th, 1928, at home in rural Jasper County outside of Newton, IL, the daughter of Clara E. and Fred H. Reisner, the youngest of two daughters. Florence attended grammar school in a one-room Reisner school in Jasper County and was a Class of 1947 Newton Community High School graduate. She continued her education at The Lincoln Bible Institute in Lincoln, IL with a Bachelor of Arts degree in 1954. Florence spent her early years attending Central Christian Church and was part of a ladies quartet. Time was spent in those years with her nieces and nephew. When she went off to college she picked up the nickname Mary Poppins because she would come to town without notice. It was always fun when she came with her big umbrella. Florence went on from college to work as a church secretary in Wood River Illinois. Then on to Indianapolis, Indiana, with Preacher Tommy Overton who was instrumental in her relocation to Huntington Beach, CA, when his family took a position at a church there. It was in California that she met and married Jan Weaver on February 5th, 1960. In 1962 they were blessed with a son, Karl, and two years later a daughter, Janine Loire. Florence helped run Weaver's Music Store in Costa Mesa, California, which they owned. After moving to several locations up and down the west coast of Southern California where Jan was choir director, sang and played violin with Florence accompanying him on piano and organ, they made their way to Newton with a short stay in Robinson, Illinois before trekking down to Florida, and then to Louisiana. Hurricane Katrina ended their traveling, and they were moved to Evansville, Indiana where they made their final home in 2005. Thank you to all the Kerchers that helped make them feel at home and loved as family. Through her travels with Jan, there was always a focus on furthering their godly mission with music in the churches. She also started working with children through the foster grandparent program in Florida and continued that work in Evansville with Westside Catholic at St. Boniface and West Terrace Elementary School. She attended several churches in the Evansville area First Christian Church downtown Evansville, West side Christian Church and Oak Hill Church of Christ. The dedication she had to the churches she attended throughout the years was outstanding and her faith in God was inspiring to all who knew her. She would also come to Evansville every year. She was there to help when her grandchildren were born and loved each of them fiercely. She was the sweetest person you could ever know. Florence is survived by her Son Karl (Joy) Weaver of Robinson Illinois and their children: Tiffany Laplant, John Weaver, Savannah Belcher, Jessica Weaver, Brett Rice, Nick Rice, and Tiffany Woodward. Her Daughter, Janine (Gary) Kercher and their children: Kristina (Alex) Smith, Tori (Matt) Dickerson, Hanna (Dylan) Wetzel, and Marla Kercher. 11 Great Grandchildren: Tristan, Natalya, and Makayla Laplant, Christian Weaver, Brayden and Lilly Smith, Olivia and Ellie Dickerson, Marshall, Weyland, and Kolson Wetzel. She is also survived by her nieces Vivian Price, Loret Newlin and Niece in-law Anita Newlin. Great Nieces and Nephews Michelle Bender, Chris Wing, Jennifer Wing, Amanda Price, Bill Price, Hannah Newlin and families. She was preceded in death by her husband of 47 years Jan Weaver; her parents Clara (Jones) Reisner and Fred Reisner, sister and brother-in-law Louise (Reisner) Newlin and John Newlin, nieces, Phyllis Rabb, Loire and Doug Wing, and Nephew Howard Newlin, great great Nephew Eli Bender; all of her brothers-in-law and sisters-in-law from Jan's family. Memorial Service will be held at 10:30 A.M. October 4th, 2025, at Plainfield Church near Rose Hill, 17605 N. 1280th, St. Hidalgo IL, 62432.
