Elva DeLeon, age 67, of Bovina, Texas, died Thursday, September 25, 2025 in Friona, Texas. She was born August 23, 1958 in Hereford, Texas to Fernando and Maria (Marinez) Garcia. She married Tommy DeLeon in Hereford on December 22, 1979.

Elva worked at Friona ISD for over seven years. She loved to cook and fill her home with wonderful meals for her family including empanadas, tortillas and enchiladas. Elva enjoyed sewing and crocheting. She loved volleyball as well. She was an avid fan of Mariachi and Tejano music. Above all, Elva was a woman of strong faith. Her family was her world, especially her grandkids. Elva was a member of St. Ann's Catholic Church in Bovina. She is preceded in death by her parents and a brother, Fernando Garcia Jr.

Elva is survived by her husband, Tommy; her four sons, Lucas DeLeon and his wife, Elizabeth of Brownwood, Texas, Christopher DeLeon and his wife, Marissa of Amarillo, Texas, Marcos DeLeon of Bovina, Texas and Gil DeLeon of Bovina, Texas; her daughter, Maria DeLeon of Clovis, New Mexico; her father-in-law, Gil DeLeon of Bovina, Texas; five sisters, Emma Perez and her husband, Rosalio of Greely, Colorado, Dora Garcia of Amarillo, Texas, Irma Estrada and her husband, Paul of Hereford, Texas, Rebecca Corral and her husband, Carlos of Amarillo, Texas and Jessica Salas and her husband, Procopio of Utah; and her eight grandchildren, Angelita Abeyta, Malachi Maldonado, Gabriel Maldonado, Alex DeLeon, Alexis DeLeon, Geriah DeLeon, Mason DeLeon and Remington DeLeon.

The family suggest memorials be sent to St. Ann's Catholic Church, 409 South 3rd Street, Bovina, Texas, 79009.
