Tomas Candelario DeLeon

October 15,1945 – September 10, 2025

It is with faith in eternal life that we announce the passing of Tomas Candelario DeLeon, 79. He passed away peacefully surrounded by loved ones and joined his wife, Mary, in heaven on her birthday September 10, 2025.

Born in Brownsville, Texas, the oldest of 3 children, to Ramon Monico DeLeon Guerra and Natividad Sauceda DeLeon. Raised by his single mother who taught him a strong work ethic, faith, and devotion to family.

He served in the United States Army during Vietnam and was stationed in Okinawa Japan as an evacuation medic attached to a Marine Corp unit. Throughout his life he remained proud to have served his country and to have served alongside those Marines who nicknamed him "Doc".

After Vietnam he returned to his hometown and later moved to Houston, Texas where he met his wife, Mary (Gonzalez) DeLeon. They married and remained devoted partners in life for 54 years. He worked for the United States Post Office and retired with 20+ years of federal service.

Tomas is preceded in death by his devoted wife, father and mother. He is survived by his brother Rolando B. DeLeon and his sister San Juanita (Carlos) SanMiguel, his nieces, nephews and their children.

Tomas took immense pride in the lives and military service of his niece Laura SanMiguel-Fearing and nephews Carlos E. SanMiguel (Navy) and Roberto SanMiguel (Navy).

He will be remembered for his larger-than-life personality, great smile, big heart, his sense of humor and his ability to always tell a joke.

A viewing service will be held at Darst Funeral Home, 796 Russell Palmer Rd.; Kingwood, Texas 77339 on Saturday, September 27th at 1:00 pm

A memorial burial service will be held at the Houston Veterans Memorial Cemetery on October 17, 2025 at 2:30p.m.
