Emily Williford Reed, 94, of Anderson, and widow of the late James Wilson Reed, Jr. died February 22, 2026, at her home.

Emily lived a life marked by generosity, honesty, and boundless energy. She was not only a cherished friend and an outgoing individual but also held dear to her roles as a mother, mother-in-law, grandmother, and great-grandmother. Born January 4, 1932, in Anderson, she was the daughter of the late James Barrett and Ruth Bolt Williford. Mrs. Reed was bookkeeper for Reed Brothers Concrete and Grading. She was a member of Central Presbyterian Church and the Joanna Circle. She was also a member of the Bud and Bloom Garden Club, Concord Baptist Senior Adults where she served as the activity director for over 21 years, and the National Federation of the Blind of South Carolina.

Surviving are her children, James W. "Jim" Reed, III, of the home, Thomas Reed (Donna), of Pendleton; son-in-law Joel Cochran of Sylacauga, AL; grandchildren, Kayleigh Cochran Mahone (Graves), Emily Cochran, Aaron Reed (Katy), Lyndsey Reed Wilson (William), and James Reed (Elizabeth); a long-time honorary grandchild, Heather Beckham (Robert) and their son, Riley; and eight great grandchildren.

In addition to her parents and husband, she was preceded in death by her daughter Rosemary Cochran and by a sister, Patricia A. Williford.

Graveside services will be held at 2:00 pm, Wednesday, February 25, at Old Silver Brook Cemetery conducted by Dr. Michael York and Rev. Bill Parnell. The family will receive friends following the service.

In lieu of flowers, memorials may be made to the charity of one's choice.

A special thanks to Home Instead, Tina Butler, Angela Burdette, and Linda Perryman, as well as Crescent Hospice, for the excellent care and compassion provided during Emily's final days.
