Emily Moore Rosson, a beloved matriarch, dedicated community leader, and cherished friend, peacefully passed away on July 15, 2025, at Tri-Star Medical Center in Nashville, Tennessee. She was born on October 26, 1939, in Haywood County, Tennessee, the daughter of James Roy Moore and Ruby Irene Lane Moore. Emily's life was a beautiful tapestry woven with compassion, strength, and an unwavering commitment to her family and community.
Emily's professional journey began in retail sales, where she spent three meaningful years at Famous Barr in St. Louis, followed by over five years at Goldsmith's in Memphis. Her warm spirit and natural charisma made her a favorite among customers and colleagues alike, leaving a lasting impression on all who crossed her path.
Her heart was not only committed to her work, but also to her community. Emily served as a city councilwoman for an impressive 28 years, a testimony to her dedication and desire to improve the lives of those around her. An active member of the Friendship Club and Mt. Moriah Baptist Church, she sought to make meaningful connections and promote fellowship within her community. Emily exhibited her passion for literacy and education as she chaired and served on the board of the Lee Ola Roberts Library, ensuring that future generations had access to invaluable resources.
Emily was a vibrant member of the Inter-Se, where she fostered friendships that enriched her life. She was known for her love of playing cards, a testament to her playful spirit and her zest for life. Her laughter often filled the room, bringing joy and warmth to those fortunate enough to be in her company.
After marrying Bobby Rosson, whose naval career took them to many exciting places, Emily embraced the adventurous lifestyle that came with military life. This experience ignited her passion for travel, allowing her to explore the world while cultivating deep nodes of connection with diverse cultures and communities.
Emily leaves behind her loving sons, Mike (Tracy) Rosson of Eads, and Robert (Sherry) Rosson of Bolivar. Her legacy is carried on through her grandchildren, Christopher Rosson, Corey Rosson, and Katie (Jesus) Salazar; as well as her great granddaughter, Madison Salazar, and her great grandson who is on the way, Christian Salazar.
Emily was preceded in death by her devoted husband, Bobby Rosson, who was her partner in love and life; her beloved brother, Bobby Moore; and her cherished sister, Elizabeth Ward. Their memories will forever reside in the hearts of those who knew and loved them.
Visitation will be held on July 18, 2025, from 6:00 PM to 8:00 PM and again on July 19, 2025, from 10:00 AM to 11:00 AM at Shackelford Funeral Directors in
Bolivar, Tennessee. A funeral service will follow on July 19, 2025, at 11:00 AM, allowing family and friends to gather in remembrance of a remarkable woman who touched so many lives.
