Emily J. Untied

With great sadness, we announce the passing of Emily Jean Untied, who peacefully left us on August 6, 2025 at the age of 77. She was born on December 5, 1947 to William Edward Butler and Martha Louise Shedd of Athens, GA and lived a life full of love, kindness, and selflessness.

Emily was a devoted wife, mother, grandmother "nana", and friend. She dedicated her life to caring for her family and was a pillar of strength to all who knew her. She had a passion for spending time with family and friends, hosting family gatherings and meals, and always remembered to celebrate birthdays and anniversaries. She enjoyed quietly doing puzzles or crocheting but was also always ready for family games and card playing. She always had a story or memory to share that would keep you engaged with her fascinating presentation, and she was quick to lend an ear and to advise, support and encourage. Her generosity and warm spirit touched the lives of many.

She was preceded in death by her loving husband of over 50 years, Richard "Tony" Untied. She is survived by eight combined children: Carl Carlos, Vince Carlos, Mindy Pawlowski, Linda Carlos, Dan Untied, Cathy Mihaylo, Carol Untied, and Margaret Adams along with 19 grandchildren, and 19 great-grandchildren.

Service will be held on Saturday, August 23, 1 PM at H.D. Oliver Funeral Apts., 1416 Cedar Rd, Chesapeake with visitation following at the family home. Mom, your love and guidance will remain in our hearts forever.
