Emma Alston Glover ascended from her earthly home into eternal rest on December 8, 2024, surrounded by her family. She was 88.
She was born March 15, 1936, in Pittsburgh, PA. She was the daughter of the late Tealy, Sr. and Georgianna Alston. She was the youngest of their 12 children.
She received her formal education through the Crafton School System of Pittsburgh. She furthered her education at Tri-C Community College in Cleveland, OH receiving her associate's degree in early childhood. She received her Bachelor of Science Degree in Education from Cleveland State University and a Reading Specialist Degree from John Carroll University. She was a teacher in the Cleveland Public Schools for 25 years, retiring in 1999. She was nominated for Who's-Who among American Teachers in 1994.
She professed her life to Christ at the early age of 12 at Second Baptist Church in Carnegie, PA. There she was a junior member of the Keystone Gospel Singers, Crafts Club and BYPU. After moving to Cleveland, she joined Greater Mt. Zion Baptist Church where she was a member of the Pastor's Support Ministry and designing the bulletin boards that lined halls.
She was married to the late Daniel Glover and to this union they had one son, Keith, who survives with his wife Lee in Cleveland, OH. She also leaves to cherish her memory, a special nephew Andre Williams, foru grandchildren Nasir, Kalayna, Kingsley and Samariana. A sister Cecilia Trent of Penn Hills, PA, a brother Gerald Alston of Pittsburgh, PA and a host of nieces, nephews and friends.
She was preceded by her parents, three sisters: Mary Williams, Nannie Alston, and Eula Burley. Six brothers: Edward, William, Robert, Tealy, Jr., Max and Leroy Alston.
Family and Friends are being received on Friday, December 20, 2024 from 10am until time of a Homegoing Service at 12 noon at the Leo J. Henney Funeral Home, 323 Second Avenue, Carnegie. Interment will follow the Service at Chartiers Cemetery, 801 Noblestown Road, Carnegie. www.leohenneyfuneralhome.com
