She was born in 1930 in Rockport, Indiana to Chester and Hazel Covey Small. She was the next to the youngest of six children. Charles Small(deceased), Anna Brown (deceased) and Margaret Pacely(deceased). She is survived by two sisters (Betty Pacely and Lois Smith) of Rockport, Indiana.
Emma gave birth to three sons, Garland Lynch (Markeita), Donald Lynch (deceased) and Dean Lynch (deceased). She was blessed with four grandchildren, Stephanie Crowley, Tasha Vessely, Richard Lynch, Andrea Lynch and seven great grand children.
She also was blessed with two stepsons, Jeff McCarrel (deceased) and John McCarrel (deceased) and three stepdaughters, Bridget Buchanan (John), Cecelia Ford (Nelson) and Pam McCarrel Wilson (Herb) and three step-grandchildren, Laura Frank, Jordan McCarrel and Andrea McCarrel.
She retired from Western Electric in 1985 after 30 years and moved with her husband, Gerald McCarrel to Florida. He passed away in 2013 and she moved back to Indiana.
There will be a private internment at Washington Park Mausoleum at a later date
